How to Associate a Contact with an Organisation

Linking a person to the organisation they work for.

Associating a contact with an organisation links the two records together, so you can navigate between them and see the full picture of who ECA engages with at that body.

Often this happens automatically. If the organisation record has a domain name, Hive matches it against contact email addresses and links them for you. You'll only need these steps when that hasn't happened — for example, where someone uses a personal email address, or the organisation has no domain recorded.

Linking to an existing organisation

Step 1. Open the contact's record. On the right-hand side, find the Organisations section and click + Add.

Step 2. Click the Add existing tab, then search for the organisation by name.

Step 3. Tick the organisation you want, click Next, then click Save.

If the organisation doesn't exist yet

Click Create new instead of Add existing, and fill in the details as set out in How to Create a New Organisation.

What else you can associate

The same right-hand panel is where you link a contact to other records:

  • Contacts — for example, linking an adviser to their politician. See How to Associate a Contact to a Contact.
  • Projects —See How to Associate a Contact or Organisation with a Project.
