How to Create a New Contact
Adding a new individual stakeholder to Hive, plus the other ways contacts get created.
f you come across someone who isn't in Hive, it's your responsibility to add them. Include as much information as you can — job title and team especially.
Creating a contact manually
Step 1. Click the CRM icon in the left-hand menu, then click Contacts.
Step 2. Click the orange Create contact button in the top right.

Step 3. In the panel that opens on the right, enter the contact's details — Email, First name, Last name, Organisation name, and Category. Then click Create.

Step 4. Once the contact is created, you can add further biographical information on the record — including jurisdiction, issues, and whether they are aligned or opposed on specific ECA objectives.

Tip: Enter the email address if you have it. Hive uses the email domain to automatically link the contact to the right organisation record.
Other ways contacts get created
You won't always create contacts manually. Contacts also enter Hive in three other ways:
From Outlook. You can create a contact directly when logging an email. See How to Log Emails in Outlook.
By import. If you have contact data in a spreadsheet, it can be imported. Only system administrators can run bulk imports — contact them if you have a list to bring in.
From a form submission. When someone fills in a form on our website, such as a newsletter sign-up, a contact record is created automatically from their email address.
