How to Create a New Organisation

Adding a new organisation to Hive, and why the domain name matters.

Body

Organisations cover every external body ECA engages with — government departments, market bodies, consumer groups, media outlets, and businesses.

Creating an organisation

Step 1. Click the CRM icon in the left-hand menu, then click Organisations.

Step 2. Click the Create organisation button in the top right.

Step 3. In the panel that opens, enter the organisation's details — Organisation domain name, Organisation name, Email, Category, and Jurisdiction. Then click Create.

Organisation name is a required field. Everything else can be added later, but the more you complete now, the more useful the record is to everyone else.

Why the domain name matters

Always include the organisation domain name if you have it.

Hive relies heavily on the domain name to power its automatic association feature. When you enter a domain — for example accc.gov.au — Hive matches it against the email addresses of new and existing contacts. When it finds a match, it automatically links those contacts to the correct organisation record, and can map organisation data across to the contact profiles.

Skipping the domain means every contact at that organisation has to be linked by hand.

Next steps

Once the organisation record exists, you can associate it with other records — contacts and, from August 2026, projects.
