The Project Dashboard

What each panel shows, and which sheet it reads from.

The Project Dashboard is the entry point to a project toolkit. It displays data; it doesn't hold any. Every panel reads from one of the toolkit sheets — so if a figure looks wrong, the fix is in the source sheet, not here.

Getting there: via the Project Link column in the Project Intake Sheet, or through the Project Folder in the project workspace.

Navigation

Navigation icons — links to each toolkit sheet: Project Schedule, Budget Tracker, Risk & Incident Log, Status, Closure Checklist.

Project Overview

Panel Reads from
Project Information Project Intake Sheet
Latest Project Status Status sheet
Schedule Information Project Plan
Closure Checklist Information Closure Checklist
Project Status Report Status sheet

Schedule

Panel Reads from
Milestones by Status chart Project Plan — Milestone and Status columns
Project Milestones report Project Plan
Overdue Tasks report Project Plan — Overdue flag
Upcoming Tasks (Next 10 Business Days) report Project Plan — Due Date

Financials

Panel Reads from
Budget Information Budget Tracker
Budget vs Contracted vs Actuals chart Budget Tracker — project-level rollups
Budget vs Contracted vs Actuals by FY chart Budget Tracker — FY-level rollups

If the financial charts look wrong, check the Budget Tracker hierarchy first. These read the rollup rows, so a row indented at the wrong level won't appear.

Risks & Incidents

Panel Reads from
Open Risks by Rating chart Risk & Incident Log — Residual Rating, Type = Risk
Open Incidents by Priority chart Risk & Incident Log — Priority, Type = Incident
Very High & High Risks report Risk & Incident Log
High & Medium Incidents report Risk & Incident Log

Charts and reports both open through to the underlying sheet.

Checking a chart

If a chart looks wrong:

  1. Open the source sheet from the Navigation menu at the top of the dashboard
  2. Check the value on the relevant rows — Rating for risks, Priority for incidents
  3. Compare against what the chart shows
  4. Open the report behind the chart to see the filtered row set

Charts inherit their filters from the underlying reports. A chart showing nothing usually means a filter, not missing data.
