How Organisations Are Categorised

This article explains how we categorise organisations in Hive.
A note on the word "Organisation." In Hive, Organisations cover all external bodies we engage with — including government departments, market bodies, and not-for-profits — not just businesses. You may occasionally see the word "Company" in parts of the HubSpot interface; this refers to the same thing.
1. Category type
What is this? The general type of organisation.

| Civil society | A consumer group, environmental or climate organisation, or other not-for-profit. | ACTOSS |
| Consultant | An expert organisation we commission for work, such as economic modelling. | Dynamic Analysis |
| Energy industry | An organisation in the energy industry sector. | Energy Australia |
| Government department | A Federal, state or territory department. | NSW DCCEEW |
| Local government | A local government or council. | Waverley Council |
| Media | An organisation associated with the media. | The Age |
| Non-energy industry | An organisation that does not work in civil society or for an energy organisation. | Business Council of Australia |
| Ombudsman | An ombudsman, including state or territory energy or water ombudsman. | Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria |
| Politician | An elected Federal, state or territory politician. | Minister for Climate Change and Energy |
| Regulator or market body | A regulator or market body — including the AER, AEMC, AEMO, ACCC, and ESC. | Australian Energy Regulator |
| Research organisation | A university or research organisation. | University of Melbourne |
| Small business organisation | A small business, or small business advocacy organisation. | COSBOA |
| Supplier | An organisation that supplies services to ECA, such as events. | Chop Chop |
